Today I’m sharing Halloween at our house this year! Halloween is one of our very favorite times of year. It’s the start to the holiday season, and my house is basically decorated for the holidays from August through January. I’ve been keeping our decor simple and soft, and not too fussy.
I kept our Halloween decor pretty neutral this year by incorporating fall colors, stems, and pumpkins with a few skeleton decor items.
I have been using faux bats for a couple years now, and I absolutely still love them! if you’re on Instagram you’ve probably seen everyone using them in various ways. They add so much character, and don’t take up space on counters, tables or shelves. They definitely make a big impact for a few bucks, and can be reused again and again.

One of my favorite new Halloween decor items this year were these 7.5’ large fuzzy spiders. I also incorporated a few of these 5’ spiders inside the house in the entry way, and added a few to the exterior as well. I attached them to the entire exterior of our home this year, and they were a hit.

The hubs and I on Halloween! Every Halloween we set up our outdoor movie screen and a little concessions stand. I also make homemade chili every year, and this year I made a pumpkin chili. I’ll make sure to get the recipe posted here soon. I also think my hubby was loving his makeup I painted on his face quite a bit!

Here are the spiders I hung all over the house using these heavy duty adhesive hooks. The Kids were very excited it rained one day haha.

Dalty loves our skeleton visitors!

Every year my “pumpkin patch” grows. I just can’t get enough pumpkins. I usually mix some real pumpkins in with my faux pumpkins. They look so nice contrasting with this vintage storage chest I got at the Rose Bowl Flea Market in Pasadena, California a few years ago. Anything vintage immediately works well with Halloween decor if you ask me.

Here’s Mr. Skeleton with one of my favorite DIY pumpkins. This was originally from Michael’s.
I sprayed it with textured spray paint, added a layer of cream paint, and rubbed some wet dirt on it to give it a rustic vibe.

Here’s a glimpse of some of the ways I used these bats from Amazon. I find that sometimes the tiny sticker leaves a little residue when you remove them, but it’s nothing a little Goo Gone can’t fix.

This is our entry way after I decided to paint the wall black. I love the contrast so much!

I also made over Dalty’s room this year, so here we are in his new big boy bedroom! He’s been enjoying this Halloween costume since last year (he’s an anime character named Narruto if you’re wondering).

I’m so sad, I broke my Williams Sonoma pumpkin punch bowl this year. On the hunt for a new one!
I hope you enjoyed a little peek into Halloween at our house! 😘
Love,
Hollie
